What’s next for Entrepreneurs On Fire

What’s next for Entrepreneurs On Fire? is a question we get asked a lot, but it wasn’t until late in 2017 that I took a step back to reflect on what the answer to that question really is.

That’s when I realized we’ve spent 5 years building a strong platform and foundation for what is today a very successful business — and that wasn’t a quick or an easy process.

I discovered that the answer to the question “What’s next for Entrepreneurs On Fire?” is a lot simpler than I — or even those who ask us — probably expected:

What’s next has a lot to do with focusing on what we’ve already started.

Focusing on what we’ve already started

One thing that’s next for Entrepreneurs On Fire in 2018 is focusing on constant improvement.

But what does “constant improvement” actually mean?

A lot of people talk about “constant improvement” — this vague term that probably translates to something like, “not really sure what to work on, so I’ll just say I’m going to improve things”.

For us, constant improvement means:

  • Increasing sales through Amazon with The Freedom and Mastery Journals;
  • Ranking on Page 1 in Google for our top keywords;
  • Continuing to refine content (and its place) on the membership site for Podcasters’ Paradise;
  • Reviewing our email campaigns for updates and improvements to increase open and click through rates.

As you can see, there’s a lot of work to be done, and a lot of opportunity to improve what we’ve already started.

In order to help us accomplish this, we’ve brought on a marketing team to help guide us, lead by our marketing strategist, Kelly.

Just because something has been a success up to this point, doesn’t mean it will just continue being a success without improvements being made along the way. Kelly is going to help us make sure these improvements happen in the most efficient and beneficial way.

In addition to focusing on what we’ve already started, we do have some other projects coming up in 2018 that we’re pretty fired up about!

Some of them are new, and others we’ve been talking about for years.

Those projects are…

How to Finally Win

John has spent a significant amount of time over the past several months drafting his next book: How to Finally Win. In fact, you might already be on the interest list to receive updates and behind-the-scenes peeks at his progress.

John’s idea for How to Finally Win came from a recurring theme he noticed in the online world: everyone seems to be focused on how not to lose.

But why focus on how not to lose when you could be focusing on How to Finally Win?

John’s book will be about how to create your dream life one step at a time, and the goal is to release the book in mid-2018.

The Podcast Journal

We’ve already done A LOT of ground work when it comes to creating physical products thanks to the creation of The Freedom and Mastery Journals.

Because we’ve already done the groundwork, we’re excited to be creating a different type of journal this time around: The Podcast Journal

We’ve built our entire business around the Entrepreneurs On Fire podcast; saying that podcasting is a huge focus of ours would almost be an understatement. It’s at the center of everything we do.

As a result, we’ve created an entire community to teach others how to create, grow and monetize their own podcast called Podcasters’ Paradise.

But for those who may not be able to make a big investment in joining a community, or for those who may not have time to go through all of the step-by-step video tutorials, we’re creating a guide that will take you from Idea to Launch in 50 Days.

This is a project we’ve been talking about for years. In fact, our idea for The Podcast Journal first came up in 2015. But with Podcasters’ Paradise, The Freedom Journal, and The Mastery Journal, we haven’t made it a focus.

Until now.

Each day of The Podcast Journal will be a guided workbook that will tell you exactly what you need to do in order to take one step closer to creating and launching YOUR own podcast.

Be sure to sign up for The Podcast Journal interest list to get updates on our progress!

We’ll be launching The Podcast Journal at Podcast Movement 2018.

Memoir

Coming up with new ideas is easy. Coming up with new ideas that stick is pretty tough. But here at Entrepreneurs On Fire we practice what we preach: no skipping steps!

So when John decided he wanted to pursue a passion project, he sat down and went through his Zone of Fire exercise.

Over the five days he was brainstorming and writing out his passions and experiences he realized something about his love for history and podcasting: the two could be combined to create a really powerful and valuable piece of art.

The idea for Memoir was born out of John’s love for reading and learning about historical figures who have changed the world, and his expertise in podcasting.

Memoir: Audio Biographies of the Men and Women who Have Changed the World is LIVE, and it features highly produced episodes that have been deeply researched and well-thought-out.

Each series on the podcast shares an audio biography of a historical figure who has changed the world, and the first is all about Alexander the Great.

Episodes will be produced ongoing, but not on a specific schedule. You can tune in to Memoir now at Memoir.one!

From daily to twice weekly?

This has been a big topic of conversation at the Entrepreneurs On Fire studios as of late: what if at episode 2000 we scale back?

While Entrepreneurs On Fire made a name for itself because it was daily, we’re now 5 years down the road. Coming up with new and exciting ways to keep our audience engaged — and growing — hasn’t been easy.

A daily show has allowed us to do a lot, like:

  • Have 2,000 amazing conversations with top-level entrepreneurs;
  • See the ripple effect — what you’ve achieved as a result of listening to Entrepreneurs On Fire;
  • Grow our audience quickly.

We also can’t ignore one of our top revenue streams: sponsorship revenue. Because we have a daily show, we’re able to book a lot more sponsorship placements.

These are all amazing benefits of a daily podcast, and while we’ve put incredible systems in place that help us do a lot of work in a little amount of time, we also see some potential benefits of scaling back, like:

  • More in-depth, higher-quality production;
  • More time to take action for our listeners between episodes;
  • More one-on-one time with JLD.

The idea behind scaling back would be that we’d be producing 2 episodes per week:

  1. An incredible, in-depth masterclass-like episode with a high-level, expert entrepreneur;
  2. An incredible, in-depth solo episode w/ JLD.

We’ve also toyed around with the idea of doing a sort of “hot seat” episode, where we’d invite an entrepreneur on the show who is just getting started out and have an open coaching session on air.

But we’d love to hear YOUR feedback: what do you think about Entrepreneurs On Fire scaling back to twice per week?

It’s fun to learn what other people have going on in their business, and it can oftentimes be very enlightening, inspiring and motivating. Perhaps what someone else is working on is something you’ve never thought of before, but that might work for your business, too.
